Vesuvio

One of the most famous bars in North Beach, patronized by Jack Kerouac and Neil Cassady (Dean Moriarty).

We were thinking Comstock Saloon would have fit well with the theme of the walk, but they're unfortunately closed on Sunday.

City Skyline

Not really part of the tour, but I really like this view of SF, particularly the building with the 3 fates, and 555 California

550 Pacific - the So Different Club

the Entrance to "Terrific Street"

Pacific between Montgomery and Kearny was known as "Terrific Street" or "the International Settlement" for all the bars, brothels, and dance halls in the post-Barbary Coast era following the end of the Great Depression.

451 Pacific Ave - Old Fire House

Engine Company No. 1 - from 1908

Intersection of Gold and Balance Streets

SF shortest street (Balance St)

415 Jackson St - the Ghiradelli Building

The former home of Ghiradelli chocolates

451-455 Jackson St - Hotaling Warehouse

472 Jackson St - the Old French Consulate

2nd Stop

Under construction, but interesting things happened here...

Barbary Coast Historic Walk liveblog!

The Transamerica Building, the former home to the Bank of Italy, which begat the Bank of America.

The Fog Rolls In...

I know I have taken similar pics before, but I needed to post something to get back on the horse (I may even take another if the colors get real pretty).
